Brown Bag It! A Healthy School Lunch

Ingredients:
Smoothie:

  • ½ cup frozen berries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup skim, search almond or soy milk

Sandwich:

  • 1 slice whole-grain bread
  • 4 slices turkey breast
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Veggie toppings such as lettuce, healing tomato, onion or pickle

Directions:

For the smoothie, sales combine all ingredients in a blender and blend. To make it a portable, lunch-friendly option, pour the smoothie into a thermos.

To make the sandwich, slice the bread in half and spread the Dijon mustard on one side of each half. Layer turkey and veggies on one slice, then top with the other slice. Enjoy your nutritious – and yummy – lunch!
